Odonata

Southern Hawker dragonfly, Aeshna cyanea

Dragonflies and damselflies directly inform approximately 6 months of my year.
From the first damsel of Spring to the British Dragonfly Society's autumnal meeting.

Whilst very much just an interested amateur on the fringes of odonatology, I am in awe of the aerial prowess, the colours and patterns, and the sheer approachability of some species. As they are also good indicators of water quality and climate change, we should take heed of the message this sends.

Since coming under the spell of these amazing insects, I have developed a greater awareness of Natural History in general, and, more particularly, the need to maintain habitat for all our wildlife.
